Research Proposal Writing Service for UK Students
You send us your topic, course and deadline. We build a proposal your supervisor can say yes to: a sharp research question, a method that fits it and a timeline you can actually keep.
What goes into a proposal we write for you?
Departments vary, but most proposals are built from the same handful of parts. This is how we cover each one.
Working title
Short and specific, so a reader sees your topic and approach at a glance.
Background and rationale
Why the topic matters and why it needs researching now, in a few tight paragraphs.
Question, aims and objectives
One clear research question or overall aim, broken into a small set of objectives you can realistically meet.
Short literature overview
The main debates and the gap your project answers. Need the full chapter later? See our literature review help.
Methodology and ethics
Your data, how you will collect and analyse it, and the ethical points to flag. For the full write-up, see our methodology help.
Timeline and references
Milestones from approval to submission, plus a reference list in the style your university uses.
Which type of proposal do you need?
Dissertation proposal
Submitted to your supervisor or module team for approval before you start. Usually short, focused on feasibility. Pairs well with our dissertation help.
Master's research proposal
Often assessed in its own right, so the question, method and ethics have to be convincing on paper.
PhD application proposal
Longer and more original, written to show you can carry a research programme. Continue with our PhD thesis help once you are accepted.

What do universities say a proposal should show?
We write to the same expectations universities publish. King's College London describes a strong proposal as one with a clear, original question that explains why the research matters, what data it needs and which methods answer it. Sheffield Hallam's library guide recommends a working title, aims with a few objectives, a short literature review, a methodology and an optional schedule. Sunderland's guide adds that a proposal is a written plan so supervisors can spot problems early.
